Statement Regarding the Recent Hate Crimes
The recent hate crimes committed in Atlanta brought a conversation to the forefront for the national media– but the reality is that the Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) community has struggled to have their voice heard since before the beginning of the pandemic. There have been nearly 3,800 recorded instances of hate crimes against the AAPI community in the past year.
Last June, NAIOP committed to doing the work and bringing DEI to the forefront for CRE across the Commonwealth. It is incumbent upon every single one of us to bring attention to these injustices now and always.
Our collective voice is strong and must be used to amplify those who are not heard. We’re still doing this critical work – and encourage all of our members, friends and colleagues to join us in a stand against racism, terrorism and violence.
